How do we bear witness to faith in a living Christ? By engaging in support of institutions, projects and ministries that serve the needs of people, both locally and farther afield.

The Mission Outreach Committee determines and recommends how we will respond through various programs. A “Mission of the Month” allocates financial resources from our budget, and through education, solicit further contributions from the congregation in support.

Through our “Mission of the Month” we have supported –

Newbrook Fire Department
Townshend Community Food Shelf
Windham Central School District’s After School Programs “L’ After”
Brattleboro Area Hospice
Valley Cares
Brattleboro Affordable Housing
Our Church’s Wider Mission (in support of regional, national and global initiatives)
Groundworks Collaborative
SEVCA  Fuel Assistance
Minister’s Relief Fund (an annual appeal for support of retired UCC clergy living on marginal incomes)
Pastor’s Discretionary Fund for Emergency Relief Fund
Andover Newton Theological Seminary
Dansalan College Foundation
Grace Cottage Hospital
Winston Prouty Center
Brattleboro Area Inter-Faith Youth Group
Women’s Freedom Center

We support ecumenical efforts responding to local and global disasters through special offerings for Church World Service and One Great Hour of Sharing.

In addition to budgeted missions, donations of $360.00 were made by members for the purchase of blankets for people in great need (through Church World Services).’

With the combined efforts of Ladies Aid and church members $1,450.00 was collected to help the sixth graders at Newbrook School go on their annual trip to Montreal.

We voted in November to send $500.00 to the UCC (United Church of Christ) to help people who lost so much in the fires in Northern California (Camp Fire). School supplies donated by members and friends were given to the Newbrook School principal to be passed on to students as needed.

This year we have one new mission, The Winston Prouty Center for Child and
Family Development, which provides inclusive education and family support to
promote the success of children and families. The Center has been serving families in southern Vermont for over 45 years.

As a committee we continue to access local, national and foreign missions so that our money is used in the best possible way. Our intentions are to foster communities of reconciliation and healing locally and globally, and provide loving service to all of God’s children and caring for God’s creation.
